Where does the wall begin? Just past the fringe of the rug, end of the driveway or the edge of the pool? Does it spring up, unannounced, cloaked in mottled lichen, exquisitely executed some 500 years ago, in the middle of a deep green English field? Does it reveal itself as a blast of retina piercing white light brought to us courtesy of one deliberately placed right-hook? Does it wait for us to find it, ladled so deftly, as the floral swirl in the creamy foam of vacation coffee? Is it, right now, doing its’ vertical best in a tight little gallery in the Lower East Side? Perhaps it’s only in our mind that we truly are allowed to meet its day 1, our day 1. Maybe it just appears one day, standing right in front of us, at Dillon’s house, barefoot and ready to make Cosmopolitans.
